That Pink Dress

A few more pictures from the Rhythm & Rags Fashion Show last week mostly namely the gorgeous pink dress I wore from Birds Yard. It was covered in beautifully delicate pink frills. Very 80's prom dress. I was in two minds as to whether I should wear it or not because I think it bordered between fabulous and ridiculous. I'm glad I made the decision to wear it though, as it certainly stood out. It was my first outfit so I got to prance around in it for a while before the show began. It was finished off with a Eustratia latex belt with cameo. For the full blog on this event see here.

Actually loving my hair from this angle!

What I wore #1

I said I would do more outfit posts so here's the first one. These were taken last night before we went out to a friends house to play some pool and drink some beer. Sam actually lives a mile and a half away so we did a three mile round trip and I actually feel good for it today. I had a really great nights sleep for the first time in ages. I need to get some more exercise into my routine because having a car makes me really lazy.

I wore this outfit work and then went straight out, I think this dress was a really good buy as it's very versatile and can be dressed up or down.

Polka dot dress- Republic, grey wrap cardigan- Republic, floral leggings- Topshop, Hair flower- Primark, pocket watch pendant- gift, boots- Swear.

Rhythm & Rags

When I arrived at the venue most people had been there since 11 o'clock, and there was evidence of this all over the room, a photographer taking pictures of girls, piles of vintage clothes being rummaged through and signs of half eaten pizza on the table. Toria looked at me with a calm and collection smile as she frantically flicked through some lists. A quick tour of the venue The Laugh Inn, gave me confirmation that it was going to be a great event. Large decadent mirrors, round tables with large fancy lamps and large stage with runway attached.

One  of the things I was particularly looking forward to was getting my hair done by Tony and Guy. Whilst I was sat in the hairdressers waiting I watched girls with long luscious hair getting cascading curls and when it came to me, I pulled all the pins out of my hair and undid my dry, bleached multi shaded purple hair and wondered what they could possibility do. Basically they back combed the center of my hair and slicked back the sides. I felt a little bit unsure of having my candy floss textured hair all stood up on end as it is something I felt quite conscious of at the moment. I however got used to the idea of it and it did look good with the very over the top floor length vintage dresses I got to wear.

By the time I got back from the hairdressers it was getting very close to opening times, all our outfits were arranged on chairs in order ready for the moment, we had a few quick run-throughs before the doors and bar opened. Me and Helen downed a few glasses of wine in preparation. It was lovely to speak to the other models who were all really lovely and excited to be in the event too. One of my favourite parts of the night was definitely laughing and joking in the moments before we went on, there was definitely an air of team spirt. It very much reminded me of the scene in some like it hot where all the girls are getting ready on the train and are, having a laugh and being a bit mischievous for 1929.

The vintage clothes were provided by Blue Velvet Vintage and Bird's Yard and the accessories were provided my good friend from Eustratia.

After we came off the catwalk there was still time left to have a mooch about the vintage & designer stalls and I had a chance to socialise with everybody a bit more. I may have slips up and have a few cigarettes too along with some free cake.

I had a really top night, met lots of stunning girls and wore some gorgeous clothes. I felt more relaxed than ever doing the catwalk and I hope that I get to do some more soon because it was really so much fun and I valued being a part of it.

Sebastian Ospina

I'm really obsessing over this guys style at the moment. These images are beautiful and unique. I love the vintage/modern feel they have it's really unusual. I really want to try experimenting with some collage  mix media graphics.

The Vintage Train Case

Last night was the rhythm & Rags Charity Fashion Show in Chester. It was a lovely night I thoroughly enjoyed it and I appreciated being a part of it. I will write a full blog about the night when I manage to track down some pictures, I unfortunately neglected to take any myself.

While I was there I spotted this gorgeous round vintage suitcase which was carrying accessories lent to the event by Bird's Yard in Leeds. It has been a long ambition of mine to track down one of these vintage train cases. I've come to realise that they were an American fashion and so are fairly hard to come by in the UK. I have several smaller vintage vanity cases including the one below but not a large one, which I have been after ever since I first saw Susan's case in Desperately Seeking Susan. I am totally in love with that film. I think the idea that Susan would travel around and keep all her possessions in that one case really appealed to me. I used to think that would be the best life ever. I still love packing all my stuff up and going on adventures.

A case similar to the one I saw last night

Vintage vanity case I picked up on Ebay a while ago

The case that Susan (played by Madonna) had in Desperately Seeking Susan. I also looked into getting a vintage drum case that Jay was then going to paint with skulls for me, which would have looked pretty damn cool.

I've also spotted a few cool ones online although most of these are from America and as they are so big only ship to America. Click the picture to get to the source.

I as impractical as these probably are to carry around I really want to get one for when I got on my trip to London. Just waiting to find out the price of the one in Leeds. I think secretly it's just so that I can feel like I'm in a black and white film.

Let's go Dotty

I'm actually really loving this seasons obsession with dalmatian print. I had a bit of 101 dalmatian faze when I was little. I used to watch disney cartoon (not the film) on repeat. I'm certain I own at least on dalmatian cuddly toy. I'm definitely wanting to purchase the topshop knitted jumper and might have to resist from buying everything else to match.

From Top left to right, Knitted dalmatian jumper- Topshop, £60, dalmatian & faux leather shopper- Topshop, £14, faux fur collar sweat- River Island, £30, dalmatian ballet pump- Miss Selfridge, £18, grey dalmatian print clutch- Miss Selfridge, £18, dalmatian button boots- Topshop Unique, £140, dalmatian print scarf- River Island, £22, dalmatian print pill box hat- River Island, £18.

The River Island sweat was on the mannequin in store teamed with red and black vertical striped jeans and it looked so hot.

I'm all packed for the fashion show tonight nervous/excited.

I'm also now definitely attending halloween Torture Garden on Saturday the 29th of October if anyone else is going and wants a cheap hotel to stay in let me know. Plans for my outfit, hair and make-up are well underway and I'm very excited. Go and buy some latex from here and here.

If you have a tumblr page or a blog that you think I should be following please comment below :)

I have come to realize that over the past couple of months I have been getting mega lazy. It is a personal trait that  I despise and wish to rid myself of it. I feel as though I have allowed myself to be clouded by negativity and subsequently have not been growing creatively. Being frightened to fail is just not an excuse it's a ridiculous state of mind. So now in the spirt of keeping the energy flowing. I'm a little on motivation overload.

So expect to see more outfit posts, more creative projects and more words.

Extreme shoes

I've been meaning to take a picture of my ridiculous shoe collection for some time just so I could see what they looked like altogether. In my room they are housed in various parts of the wardrobe, under the bed, on shelves, pretty much hided all over the place. I just selected the highest and interesting ones but unfortunately they still did all fit in the picture.

I'm really enjoying using my film camera, I just need more picture opportunities now.

Alternatvie & Burlesque Fair

On Saturday I spent the day at Hersey & Heels Alternative & Burlesque fair I modeled some of Eustratia's beautiful designs and helped out flyering and on the stall. It was a really great afternoon, we spoke to lots of lovely people. There were tons of small alternative stalls selling interesting things.

Along with Eustratia there was Violaceous latex, Arcanum Accessories, Zhyon who were also selling beautiful latex things. I enjoyed catching up with people and prancing round in latex (as hot as it was). I also got a free Iron Fist bag on the way in which I think will be very useful now that my not so great republic bag has broken.

The only problem being surrounded by so much beautiful latex is that I can't decide what combination of items I want because I just want everything. If you haven't checked out some of Eustratia's latex you really should. The new site has just been launched and if you want some unique items in an ever growing industry here is the place to go http://www.eustratia.co.uk/

As Stacey's stall was on the balcony in the corner we had the best view for this.

The Eustratia stall, there were so many comments on how pretty the stall looked.

I also changed my layout a bit so that I can put up bigger pictures. I took these pictures with my new pentax film camera that I am still trying to learn to use.
